Following more than 1 year of volcano-tectonic unrest a dyke intrusion was detected in the vicinity of Fagradalsfjall on the Reykjanes Peninsula, Iceland in late February 2021. This magmatic intrusion culminated in a fissure eruption which commenced on the 19th March, 2021.
